Plastics have become indispensable in many areas of modern life, used for clothing, storage, transportation, packaging, construction and a host of consumer goods. One of plastic’s greatest properties, its durability, is also one of the main reasons that plastic presents a threat to the marine environment. Plastic does not disappear, it breaks down into ever smaller pieces, so-called MICROPLASTICS, that enter the food chain and find their way to our plates. Neither the Mediterranean nor the Adriatic have been spared. It’s time to act against plastic pollution, to the benefit of our own health!
